Abstract

The paper proposes a formal approach to the selection of sites for waste treatment facilities. The procedure allows to achieve a balance between the stability of ecosystem and economic efficiency in the creation of infrastructure for collecting, processing, recycling, incineration and disposal of solid municipal waste. The technique is based on the spatial analysis using the tools of geographic information system (GIS) and the multifactorial analysis using the Analytic Hierarchy Process.

Practical approbation of the proposed method is performed on the Scheme of inter-municipal waste disposal facilities of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
