Abstract

The participants discuss the boundaries and demarcations in the city from sociological and geographical points of view, drawing on research, examples and theories. The discussion is organized around three themes. First, what is the difference between doing and being embodied in the urban space, interpreted differently by the discussants as work and life for themselves, or as a routine and conscious existence. Secondly, the problem is that, in comparison with the actions of the citizens, their intentions are little researched and difficult to register. They still play a significant role in the city’s development, either contributing to or hindering it. Third, a redefinition of the opposition between presence and connection in the virtual space and the possible transformations of the city caused by it.
